Local author holds book signing

Local author Tina Gulino will be signing copies of her latest book It's Never Too Late at the Catskill Public Library Friday.

The event, open to the public, starts at 1 p.m., at the library located on 1 Franklin Street in Catskill.

Gulino will also be at the Palenville Library on Friday, May 20.

Free Christmas ornament discussion

The Greene County Historical Society is holding an "Origins of Christmas & Christmas Ornaments” discussion on November 3.

The talk will be held with Robert Halley who will discuss the origins of Christmas and display his collection of Christmas ornaments which dates from 1820 to1940.

The ornament collection contains a variety of styles including blown, handmade and the unique candy container ornaments.

He will also offer free antique ornament appraisals, so feel free to bring in your ornaments for discussion.

Senator Seward discusses safety measures at Kaaterskill Falls

State Senator James Seward is holding meetings with state agency officials on the increased safety measures for the Kaaterskill Falls and Devil’s Kitchen hiking areas. 

Following his Greene County tour, Seward identified safety concerns along route 23A at the Kaaterskill Falls access with the Department of Transportation and Department of Environmental Conservation officials.

“A recent tour of the hiking areas in and around the Town of Hunter and conversations with local officials and first responders clearly indicated to me that we must increase the safety of hikers as well as those tasked with protecting them,” said Seward. 

Firefighters' annual convention parade Saturday

The 122nd annual Greene County Volunteer Firefighters' Association is gearing up for its annual convention parade on Saturday, September 11th.

The parade, which begins at 1 p.m. is in the Town of Coxsackie

Guns vs hoses benefit softball game

Come out to watch your local Police Department take on your local Fire Department in a benefit softball game this weekend for a good cause.

The 5th Annual Guns versus Hoses Benefit Softball Game is set for Saturday at Elliot Park.

Food and refreshments will be for sale as well as raffles.

All proceeds will go to support Sheila Benjamin Ormerod who was diagnosed earlier this year with colon and liver cancer.

Anyone wishing to donate raffle items can call (518) 755-3008.

Vegas Night

Get ready to roll the dice this Saturday in Cairo.

The American Legion Mohican Post 983 is hosting Las Vegas Night in the Park.

Vegas style games will be played in the Angelo Canna town park from 7 to 11 p.m.

Music series to end on a good note

Thursday is the last night of Music in the Park this season.

This music series included 11 weeks of free music every Thursday at Dutchmen’s Landing Park on Main Street.

Playing classic rock hits, Johnny Moon & Starz will be definitely end the series on a good note.

The concert begins at 7 p.m.
