SAN ANTONIO - Air National Guard Airman Brendon Walsh graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland.

The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

Walsh is the son of Sherry and William Walsh of Schodack Landing.

He is a 2011 graduate of Maple Hill High School, Castleton on Hudson.

Tkaczyk sworn in as Senator for 46th district

 

ALBANY - Nearly three months after Election Day, Cecilia Tkaczyk was sworn in to the State Senate on Wednesday, representing the 46th Senate District.

Last week, after months of counting eleven thousand absentee ballots, and challenging some of them in court, Tkaczyk was declared the winner by just 18 votes.

SAN ANTONIO – Air Force Airman Joshua DelMonte has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base.

The airman completed an intensive, eight–week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

DelMonte is the son of Doreen Steinhauer of Catskill, and the grandson of Cairo. He is a 2007 graduate of Cairo-Durham High School.

Red Cross urges emergency planning

September is National Preparedness Month and the Red Cross Northeastern New York Region (ARCNEY) is telling families to make a disaster plan so they can be ready for the next emergency. 

ARCNEY says plans should include designating elements such as a meeting place outside the home,  an out-of-area contact person and location where everyone can meet in case of a disaster.

"Disasters can strike at any time and being prepared is a family's best defense," said Colleen Dundas, ARCNENY Regional Preparedness Associate. "Making a plan is an important step in making sure all household members know what to do in an emergency."

Craryville native graduates basic training

SAN ANTONIO, TX - Air For Airemen Charles H. Cruzen has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base.

The airmen has completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies , Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

Cruzen earned the distinction of being an honor graduate.

Cruzen is the son of Margaret Brown of Craryville, and Daniel Cruzen of Philmont. Cruzen is a 2010 graduate of Taconic Hills High School.

Greene County native graduates basic training

SAN ANTONIO - Air National Guard Airmen 1st Class Luke O'Reilly has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas.

O'Reilly has completed an intensive eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

O'Reilly  is the son of Ann O'Reilly of Greenville as well as a 2009 graduate of Greenville High School.
