Call for manuscripts for Capital Rep's NEXT ACT! | Arts & Culture

ALBANY - NEXT ACT!, a new project by the Capital Rep Theatre, is calling for manuscripts of plays to be considered for the upcoming New Play Summit.

The three-day forum is designed to complement the Upper Hudson Valley's recent and future growth in the fields of research and technology. NEXT ACT! reflects the misson of the Capital Rep, "to create meaningful theatre generated from an authentic link to the community."

The summit takesd place November 2-4 and will feature readigns of two never before prodiced plays and a musical.

Eligible plays cannot have been previously produced, previous readings are allowed. Plays may not have more than 7 characters. Playwrights are asked not to submit works in which the actors play multiple roles, unles it is a device used to high ligh generations. Musicals are accepted.

Playwrights should submit a synopsis, character description, and the first 10 pages of the play woth a photo/resume and bio to Margaret Hall, MHall@CapitalRep.org.

The deadline for submissions is Monday, July 16.
